SlidThru
Terms of Service
Last updated: 9 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and SlidThru. They explain what you can expect from the app, what we expect from you, and what happens if someone breaks the rules. Please read them. They are written to be understood, not to be skimmed past.
SlidThru is run by a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at any time at help@slidthru.com.
By creating an account or using SlidThru, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.
1. Who can use SlidThru
You must be at least 16 years old to have a SlidThru account. There are no exceptions, and we will remove accounts we believe belong to someone younger.
If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian before you sign up, and we encourage you to talk to them about who you are sharing your plans with. SlidThru shows where people will be and when, so it matters who is on your friends list.
You also confirm that you are not banned from using the service under any applicable law, and that you have not previously had a SlidThru account removed for breaking these terms.
2. Your account
You sign up with an email address and a password, and you confirm your email before your account becomes active. You agree to:
- give accurate sign-up details and keep your email address up to date, so we can reach you;
- choose a password you do not use anywhere else and keep it to yourself;
- be responsible for everything done through your account, unless someone used it without your knowledge and you tell us promptly;
- tell us at help@slidthru.com if you think someone else has got into your account;
- use one account for yourself, and not sell, rent or hand your account to anyone else.
Your username and display name are how other people find and recognise you. We may reclaim a username that impersonates someone, infringes a trade mark, or is chosen to abuse or mislead others.
3. What SlidThru does
SlidThru is a small social app for organising real-life plans with people you already know. In short:
- Friends are mutual. Both people have to agree. Almost everything you post is visible only to friends.
- Circles are private groups you make out of your own friends.
- Plans say where you will be and when. You choose whether all your friends, one circle, or a hand-picked list can see each plan.
- Events are bigger invites with a cover image, capacity and a guest list, and they can have a shareable web link.
- Nudges tag a few friends on something to do and ask if they are up for it.
- Memories are photos added to a plan or event by people who were there, visible to exactly the people who could see that plan or event.
- Discover lists Manchester venues and shows what is popular, in aggregate, among friends and across the app.
- Splitting a bill keeps track of who owes whom after a night out. It is a record and a link outward, never a payment.
SlidThru is currently free to use. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you clearly before you are asked to pay for anything, and using the paid part will always be your choice.
3a. Splitting a bill, and what that is not
SlidThru can keep track of money between friends: one person pays for something, the app records everyone's share, and it shows who has settled up.
SlidThru never touches the money. We do not hold it, move it, route it, or take a fee. When you go to pay somebody back, the app opens your own banking or payment app, whether you use Monzo, Revolut, PayPal or an ordinary bank transfer. The payment happens there, between you and your friend, under that provider's terms and not ours. We are not a payment service, a money transmitter, or a party to the payment.
What we store is what you tell us: the amounts, who owes whom, and whether somebody has marked a share as paid. If you choose to save payment details so friends can pay you back, those are shown only to somebody who owes you, only while they owe it. You can remove them at any time.
Because we are not part of the payment, we cannot reverse one, chase one, or resolve a dispute about one. Money between you and your friends is between you and your friends. Marking a share as paid in SlidThru is somebody saying they have paid. It is not proof, and it is not us confirming anything. If a friend does not pay you back, that is a matter between the two of you.
4. Acceptable use
Use SlidThru for its purpose: making plans with people you actually know. You agree not to:
- use the app to break the law, or to help anyone else do so;
- send friend requests, nudges, invites or messages in bulk to people who do not want them;
- scrape, copy or harvest other people's profiles, plans, photos or venue data;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools against the app or its systems;
- try to get around security, rate limits, privacy settings or a block someone has placed on you;
- reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with the app, except where the law says you may;
- create a new account to evade a suspension or removal;
- use SlidThru to advertise, promote a business, run competitions or sell things, unless we agree in writing;
- upload anything containing a virus or other harmful code, or do anything that damages or overloads the service.
5. Content policy: what is not allowed
This section applies to everything you put on SlidThru: your username, display name, bio, avatar, interests, plan and event titles and notes, comments, nudges, event cover images and Memories photos.
SlidThru has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Content that breaks this policy is removed and the account responsible may be limited, suspended or permanently removed, as set out in section 6.
The following is not allowed on SlidThru, at all:
- Harassment and bullying. Targeting someone with abuse, threats, insults, humiliation, unwanted repeated contact, stalking, or encouraging others to pile on. This includes doing it through comments, plan titles, nudges or repeat friend requests after someone has said no.
- Hate speech. Attacking, demeaning or dehumanising people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, serious illness, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Slurs and hate symbols count.
- Violence and threats. Threatening to hurt someone, glorifying violence, or organising or promoting violent activity.
- Sexual content and nudity. Pornography, sexually explicit images or text, and sexual solicitation. SlidThru is not a dating or adult app.
- Anything involving minors. Any sexual or suggestive content involving a person under 18, in any form. Also not allowed: sexualised commentary about a minor, or using the app to contact a minor for sexual purposes or to groom them. This is the line we treat most seriously and there is no warning stage.
- Illegal activity. Selling or arranging drugs, weapons, stolen goods or other illegal items or services; fraud; and using plans or events to organise unlawful activity.
- Impersonation and deception. Pretending to be another person, a business or an organisation; using someone else's photo as your avatar to pose as them; fake profiles; and misleading people about who is hosting a plan or event.
- Spam and manipulation. Unsolicited advertising, scams, phishing, chain messages, mass invites, fake events, link-dumping, and creating multiple accounts to inflate numbers or evade limits.
- Photos of people who have not agreed. Do not upload a photo of someone, whether as a Memory, an event cover or an avatar, if they have not agreed to it being shared with the people who will see it. Special care applies to photos of children, photos taken somewhere private, and photos someone has asked you to take down.
- Private information. Sharing someone else's address, phone number, workplace, or other private details without their permission.
- Self-harm and eating disorders. Content that encourages suicide, self-harm or disordered eating. If you are struggling, please talk to someone you trust or contact the Samaritans on 116 123.
- Content you do not have the rights to. Photos, images or text that infringe someone else's copyright or trade marks.
A simple test: before you post, ask whether you would be comfortable with the person in the photo, or the person you are writing about, seeing exactly what you are about to post. If not, do not post it.
6. Reporting, blocking and enforcement
Reporting
You can report content and people from inside the app. Reporting is available on profiles, plans, events, comments, nudges and Memories photos. Look for the report option on the item itself. You choose a reason (for example harassment, hate speech, sexual content, content involving a minor, impersonation, spam, or a photo of you posted without your agreement) and you can add a short description.
You can also email help@slidthru.com if you cannot reach the in-app option, or if you need to report something urgent.
Blocking
You can block any other user from their profile. When you block someone: any friendship between you ends, they can no longer see your profile, plans, events, nudges or Memories, they cannot send you friend requests, invites or comments, and their content stops appearing to you. You can see and undo your blocks in your settings.
How reports are reviewed
Every report is reviewed by a person. We aim to look at reports within 24 hours, and we prioritise reports involving a minor, a credible threat of harm, or sexual content. Those are looked at as quickly as we possibly can, ahead of everything else.
When we review a report we look at the reported content, the context around it, and whether the account has a history of similar reports. We may temporarily hide reported content while we look at it.
What we do about it
Depending on how serious the breach is and whether it has happened before, we may:
- remove the content;
- send a warning explaining which rule was broken;
- limit an account, for example stopping it posting or sending friend requests for a period;
- suspend the account temporarily;
- permanently remove the account and block the person from creating a new one;
- report the matter to the police or another authority where we believe someone is at risk or a crime has been committed.
Content involving minors, credible threats of violence, and sexual exploitation lead to immediate permanent removal of the account, without a warning, and reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
We will normally tell you when we act on your report, and we will tell the account holder what rule was broken. If you think we got it wrong, email help@slidthru.com within 30 days and a person will look at it again.
Deliberately filing false or malicious reports is itself a breach of these terms.
7. Your content and the licence you give us
Your photos and posts stay yours. Uploading something to SlidThru does not transfer ownership of it to us. We do not sell your content, we do not use it in advertising, and we do not show it to people you did not choose.
To run the app at all, we need a narrow permission from you. You give SlidThru a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, resize and display the content you post, but only so that we can show it to the people you chose to share it with, and only for as long as you keep it on SlidThru.
In practice this licence lets us: store your photo with our hosting provider, generate smaller versions so the app loads quickly, and display your plan to the friends, circle or hand-picked list you selected. Nothing more.
If you delete a post, a photo or your account, we stop displaying that content and delete it from our systems, apart from copies that stay briefly in routine backups or that we must keep by law. Note that content shared into a group setting may still be visible where it was legitimately shared, such as a comment you left on someone else's plan, or the fact that you RSVP'd.
You confirm that you own or have the rights to everything you post, and that posting it does not break the law or anyone else's rights.
Automated checks screen new posts for the most clearly unacceptable content — the kind of thing in section 5 there is never a good reason to post — before they go live. Beyond that we do not review content before it is posted, and rely on the reporting described in section 6 to catch what an automated check cannot.
8. Photos of other people
SlidThru is built around real gatherings, so photos usually include other people. Before you upload a photo, whether as a Memory, an event cover or your avatar, make sure the recognisable people in it are happy for it to be shared with the audience that will see it.
If a photo of you has been posted without your agreement, you can report it in the app or email help@slidthru.com. We will remove it. You do not have to explain why, and we do not require you to have an account to ask us to take down a photo of you.
9. Events and public invite links
If you create a shareable web link for an event, anyone who has that link can open the event page and RSVP by giving a display name. They do not need a SlidThru account. Please only share that link with people you actually want there, and remember that whoever you send it to can forward it on.
As the host, you are responsible for the event you organise: what it involves, who you invite, and complying with the law and the rules of any venue. SlidThru is not the organiser of your event and does not manage guest lists, capacity or safety on your behalf.
If you RSVP through a public link, you must not use the display-name field to impersonate someone, to abuse the host or guests, or to post anything that breaks our content policy. Hosts can remove guests, and we can disable an invite link that is being misused.
10. Venues, links and other third parties
Discover lists real venues in Manchester, and some listings include links to a venue's own website or a third-party booking page. Those places and services are not run by us.
- We do not control, endorse or guarantee any venue, its opening hours, prices, accessibility, availability or the quality of its service.
- Venue details can be out of date or wrong. Please check with the venue directly before you rely on anything.
- Any booking, order or payment you make is a contract between you and that third party, on their terms, not ours. We are not a party to it and we cannot resolve disputes about it.
- Once you follow a link out of SlidThru, that third party's own terms and privacy policy apply to you.
If a venue in our directory should not be listed, or its details are wrong, tell us at help@slidthru.com and we will correct or remove the listing.
Where venue information comes from. Much of our Manchester directory is built from Overture Maps Foundation open data, used under the Community Data License Agreement – Permissive, Version 2.0, with names, categories and locations checked and edited by us. Overture data is provided by its contributors without warranty of any kind; the same caution above applies to it.
11. Meeting people in the real world
SlidThru helps arrange meet-ups, but what happens at them is between the people involved. We do not verify anyone's identity, run background checks, or supervise any plan or event.
Please use your judgement: think about who you share your plans with, be careful about publishing exactly where you will be and when, and take the usual sensible precautions when meeting anyone you do not know well. If something goes wrong or you feel unsafe, contact the police on 999 in an emergency, and report the account to us.
12. Our app and our brand
The SlidThru app, its design, its code and the SlidThru name and logo belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, in line with these terms. That licence ends if your account ends.
You may not copy the app, distribute it, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we are connected to or endorse you, without our written permission.
13. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep SlidThru available and working, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. There will be maintenance, occasional downtime, and things we depend on that are outside our control.
We may add, change or remove features as the app develops. If we make a change that significantly reduces what the app does for you, or if we decide to stop offering SlidThru altogether, we will give you reasonable notice, normally at least 30 days. Where it is practical, we will also give you a way to export or save your content.
14. Ending your account or ours
You can leave whenever you want
You can delete your account from the app's settings at any time, or by emailing help@slidthru.com. Deleting your account removes your profile, plans, events, nudges and photos from the app immediately, and erases them permanently 30 days later. During those 30 days you can sign back in and undo it; you cannot use the app for anything else in the meantime. The privacy policy describes this in full.
When we may suspend or remove an account
We may suspend or permanently remove your account if:
- you break these terms, particularly the content policy or acceptable use;
- we are required to by law, or by a court, regulator or the App Store;
- we reasonably believe your account puts other people at risk of harm;
- you created the account to evade an earlier removal;
- your account is inactive for a long period and we have given you notice.
Except where the breach is serious or urgent, we will tell you what went wrong first and give you the chance to put it right. If your account is suspended or removed, you can ask us to look at the decision again by emailing help@slidthru.com.
Some sections continue to apply after your account ends. These include content ownership, liability, and governing law.
15. Our responsibility to you
SlidThru is provided as it is. Beyond what these terms say and what the law requires, we do not make promises about the app being available at a particular time, being free of faults, or being suitable for any particular purpose. We do not promise that other users will behave well, that their posts are accurate, or that a plan or event will happen as described.
If we fail to meet our obligations under these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable. Loss or damage is not foreseeable if it was not obvious at the time and you did not tell us it might happen.
We are not responsible for:
- what other users post, say or do, on the app or in person;
- what happens at a plan or event, including anything at a venue;
- the acts, goods or services of any third party you reach through the app, including venues and booking sites;
- business losses: SlidThru is for personal use, so we are not liable for lost profits, lost business or lost opportunities.
Where we are liable to you, our total liability in connection with the app is limited to £100, or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is higher.
What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law. If you are a consumer, you keep all your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other consumer protection law, and nothing here takes those away.
16. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your relationship with us. In short: we ask for very little, we never read your location, we do not sell data, and there are no advertising trackers of any kind. We do use one product-analytics processor, PostHog — named and explained in full in the Privacy Policy — and it is off unless you turn it on in Settings. SlidThru does not request location permission at any point.
17. Apple App Store
You get SlidThru through the Apple App Store, and Apple's own terms also apply to your download. For clarity:
- These terms are between you and SlidThru only. Apple is not a party to them.
- SlidThru, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
- SlidThru, not Apple, is responsible for handling any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty or infringes someone's intellectual property rights.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes or the law requires. If a change matters to you, we will let you know in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. That covers things like a change to the content policy, to your rights, or to how we can end your account. Small corrections take effect when we publish them. The date at the top always shows when these terms were last updated. If you keep using SlidThru after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms; if you do not want to, you can delete your account.
19. Law and where disputes are heard
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in.
If something goes wrong, please email us first at help@slidthru.com. Most things can be sorted out quickly and without formality.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a rule straight away, that does not mean we have given up the right to do so later.
20. Contact
SlidThru is operated by a UK-based sole trader. For anything to do with these terms, a report, an appeal, a takedown request or a complaint:
Email: help@slidthru.com
We aim to reply to all messages within a few days, and much sooner for anything involving safety.
